Cupping therapy is another area of Traditional Chinese Medicine and can be a sole or add on treatment.

It involves the careful placing of glass cups onto the body to create suction in the area. The cups are used to disperse and break up stagnation and congestion in the area.  The cups may be left in one position on the body or they can be gently moved across the skin, or quickly applied, removed and re applied over the affected area depending on which result is required. For most clients this is relaxing and relieving sensation.  The cups are generally left in place for about 10 minutes while the patient relaxes.

The side effects of cupping are fairly mild. Some bruising should be expected with skin will return to normal within 10 days.

“ Where there is stagnation there will be pain. Remove the stagnation and you remove the pain”

The old Chinese medical wisdom holds that pain results from the congestion, stagnation and blockage of qi, vital fluids, lymph, phlegm or irregular flow in the body. Cupping is a method of breaking up the blockage to restore the body’s natural flow of energy.

Cupping is mostly used for musculosketal pain and to relieve muscle spasms , the treatment  is also very effective over the lungs to clear congestion from a cold, cough or asthma.
